Based on the Accredited Standards Committee (ASC) X12 format, the 816 is used to convey location address information for a company and its related operating entities; maintain location address information through periodic updates; and convey location and/or logical relationships. The utilization of this transaction set from a retailer to a supplier will eliminate the need to send separate address information for purchase orders and other documents.
